Charges for Driving Offences
The fees we charge are based on the experience and qualification of your solicitor. The hourly rates are as follows:
- Partner/Member Solicitor: £280
- Senior Solicitor or Department Head (PQE 8+ years): £250
- Assistant Solicitor/Fee Earner (PQE 3-7 years): £215
- NQ Fee Earner (PQE 1-3 years): £185
- Paralegals/Trainees: £135
- Support Paralegals: £115

Fixed Fee for Guilty Plea Cases
For cases involving a guilty plea for drink driving, driving without due care, or speeding, we offer a fixed fee structure:
- Nottingham Court Hearing: £500 + VAT
- Other Courts (up to 45 minutes from Nottingham): £750 + VAT
This fee covers:
- Reviewing evidence
- Taking instructions from you
- Providing advice on the likely sentence
- Attendance and representation at one Magistrates Court hearing
This fee does not cover:
- Expert witness instruction
- Taking witness statements
- Special reasons hearings
- Advice or assistance with appeals
Key Stages:
- Initial consultation to discuss the case
- Review of evidence and providing initial advice
- Arranging witness statements if required (additional costs may apply)
- Explaining court procedures and sentencing options
- Conducting additional preparatory work and addressing follow-up queries
- Attending court, meeting you beforehand, and staying for approximately half a day
- Post-hearing discussion and advice on appeals (additional charges may apply)
Case duration at court can vary; generally, we expect to be at court for up to half a day.
Charges for Not Guilty Plea Cases
For trials, special reasons defences, or exceptional hardship arguments, our fee ranges from £1,500 to £2,500 + VAT.
VAT Information
All fees are quoted exclusive of VAT, which is charged at the standard rate of 20%.
Disbursements and Additional Costs
In certain cases, it may be necessary to engage expert witnesses or counsel. The fees for these services typically include VAT at 20%, and we will agree on these fees with you before any formal instruction. Travel expenses also usually include VAT at 20%.
We manage the payment of these disbursements on your behalf to streamline the process. Expert reports are not always necessary, but if required, we will inform you of the costs involved.
